Still working when I'm off...

So the restaurant that I work at I so happen to live like 5 minutes away. My family loves eating there after church for breakfast. Fortunately, I have Sundays off and I like it because I get to spend time with my family. Although sometimes I don't like going where I work to eat because I feel like I'm there so damn much. Also because I feel weird that the waitresses that I work with are serving me and I'm just sitting there enjoying my food. This morning, we had one of the newer waitresses serve us. She's kind of ditzy and sometimes I think she doesn't know what she's doing but anywho. She comes to our table and I'm watching her waiting to see if she'll recognize me while she's putting down our settings. Once she sees me she's like, "Omg, why am I doing this?" "You should be doing this!" I'm thinking okay yeah I can do it but like I should just serve my own table then. So I take the settings and I start setting up my OWN table and then I tell her what drinks everyone wants (because we go there so often that I know what everyone wants). She goes to go get it and I'm like you know what I'll help her out and write out on a piece of paper everyone's orders. So I write down everyone's order and gave her the paper and she's like wow that helps! And then she takes forever to get our drinks and our toast. Then she comes out with the food and she has no idea where it all goes so she's like here I'm just guna give all the food to you since you know where it all goes. After we're done eating I'm gathering all the dirty plates and piling it so that it's less work for the buss boys. Then she takes forever to give us the check and after all that my grandma pays and she gets a 15% percent tip. I mean yeah she was a waitress but I think I helped her out a lot.....JUST SAYING lol.

Perks of being a Waitress

I notice a lot of the time I'm complaining about the kind of customers I have and what they do. But every so often, I have my good days and I remind myself why I love being a waitress. It definitely pays off when you get more money in tips in just three days than your 2 week paycheck. This weekend was definitely a good weekend money wise and I was in a good mood therefore I had happy customers. Happy customers=Happy Chelsea Yaaaaay!

Renewing of Vows

Friday night I had a party of 30. A couple renewed their vows and decided to have their "reception" at my restaurant. They made the reservation for 6:45 p.m. and didn't end up coming till 7. I had all the tables set up and luckily had all their waters made. They had a fixed menu so they were only able to order certain things THANK GOD. It got kind of frustrating because I would take orders based on tables so that everything would come out table by table but some people kept adding on things and they would order for people not on their table. When I made the salads no one remembered what they ordered so I would put it on the table that I remembered I got the order from and then they would tell me they never got their salad because they moved seats. All the kids were running around all over the place and it was just so chaotic. After all of that the bill came out to $150.00 and I got tipped $20. At first I was like wow okay I guess that's more than 10 percent but now that I think of it holy crap all that I had to deal with and $20??? Idk that's just my thoughts...

Sing it woman!

Another one for the books! I have a coworker who is from the Philippines and her accent is very strong. On Wednesday night, a lady comes in and my coworker goes anywhere ma'am! The lady with a sassy attitude, "well the sign says please wait to be seated" and my coworker goes yes but you can sit anywhere. Already I can tell this is going to be one heck of a customer. My coworker goes up to her and goes, "hello ma'am what can I get for you?" The lady says, "How is the hamburger steak made?" and my coworker goes we cook it well done and the lady interrupts her and says, "WELL I WANT IT RARE!" She goes okay ma'am we can do that. She then asks what she wants with her hamburger steak  and she says she wants potatoes and toss salad. My coworker then brings out her toss salad and she eats it. When my coworker brings out her hamburger steak she's crying. We have no idea why she's crying and she doesn't ask. She takes one bite of the hamburger steak and then takes a menu from another table and then pushes the plate away from her. She calls my coworker over and says I said I wanted a hamburger steak and she goes you know a hamburger steak like from McDonalds! (LADY THAT'S A HAMBURGER!) My poor coworker goes back to get her her hamburger. She and another table (which was coincidently my mom and brother) are the only people eating in the restaurant. I was sitting down with them since I had no other customers and all of a sudden the lady starts singing along to the radio that's playing in the dining area. Adele was playing. She literally starts singing along, "I HEARD THAT YOU....SETTLED DOWN...THAT YOU...FOUND A GIRL..."She literally sang her heart out like no one else was in the restuarant. My mom, brother, and I tried so hard to hold in our laughter. I honestly think she was crazy or something.
